International Open Access Week 2023: "Community over Commercialization"
October 23 to 29, 2023
This year's International Open Access Week will take place from October 23 to 29, 2023. Guided by the theme "Community over Commercialization", numerous national and international events will be held on the topic of openness in science.
This year's theme is based on the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science, which calls, among other things, for the prevention of “inequitable extraction of profit from publicly funded scientific activities“ and for the support of “non-commercial publishing models and collaborative publishing models with no article processing charges”.
From Helmholtz, the Central Library of Forschungszentrum Jülich offers interested employees and guests information sessions on the basics and changes in scientific publishing, research data management and research software. Find out more here.
In addition, the KIT library has published a blog post worth reading about the international Open Access Week 2023, which includes an interview with co-publishing partner Ubiquity Press as well as a presentation of the library's Open Access activities. The article can be found here.
