AI & Good Scientific Practice - AI use and disclosure

AI is being used in more and more parts of research: literature search, data processing, code, and writing articles. Where AI can be used keeps changing: having previously ruled it out, the DFG has permitted the use of AI in peer review since April 2026, under a binding guideline that includes an obligation to disclose.
For researchers this raises the question: when can I use AI, and above all, what has to be disclosed, where, and in how much detail?
This talk by Johannes Schneider from the Helmholtz Open Science Office addresses these questions and introduces emerging standards for disclosing AI use.
