Tutorial „Open access publishing in systems biology – an introduction“
Heidelberg, 1 September 2011, 3-5 pm
The DKFZ Library at the German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, DKFZ) and the Helmholtz Open Access Project are pleased to announce a tutorial on „Open access publishing in systems biology – an introduction“. The free tutorial will take place on 1 September 2011 at the DKFZ in Heidelberg in conjunction with the 12th International Conference on Systems Biology (ICSB 2011).
This tutorial is intended for systems biologists interested in publishing in open access (OA) journals, in self-archiving their scientific publications on a repository, or in serving as an editor for an OA journal.
Topics will include examples of OA publications, ensuring peer review, “green” road (self-archiving) vs. “gold” road (original publication in a dedicated OA journal) to OA, advantages for OA authors, institutional vs. subject-based repositories, editing an OA journal, work flows of OA vs. “traditional” journals, cost models, licensing / copyright, Creative Commons, reuse of publications, linking publications and data, OA to research data, and a short report on the Helmholtz Open Access Project as a scientific service facility.
Room K2, DKFZ Communication Center, Im Neuenheimer Feld 280, 69120 Heidelberg
